HopBeet – Beet Beer

HopBeet pours reddish-pink in color, thanks to a heavy addition of roasted beets to the brew kettle. Aromas of citrus and earthy beets. Light hop flavors upfront, with a mild bitterness. Medium bodied, with a slightly chewy malt character. Clean, dry finish.

MAFKA Barrel Aged Sour Ale

The staves were then pitched into a vat of specially blended beer (58% Khatta Kala Sour Stout, 36% Hothaus Harvest Ale, 6% Velvet Hammer) and left to age for 18 months. The results proved to be wildly successful (pun intended!). The scent of rich, black cherries on the nose carries through to a delicate mouthfeel on the palette, and a mild, sweet-tart finish with newly unleashed oak tannins.

20th Anniversary Barleywine

Our 20th anniversary ale combines the best of all worlds – big, rich malts with plenty of nutty and caramel sweetness; the bitterness of a heavy-handed dose of resiny locally grown hops; and the warming alcohols you would expect in a high gravity brew.  An American Barleywine brewed with predominantly Thomas Fawcett malts and Michigan-grown Chinook hops.

Lady Legger Lambic

Distinct overripe fruity funk in the nose, with some hints of bleu cheese in the background. Rounded sweetness balanced by the bitterness, while the acidity takes over, producing a slight pucker, with a long, tongue-coating finish.

Strength in the Oak

Partnering with the AFC, we brewed up our award winning Old Ale, Jackhammer, and aged it in new white oak. The beer’s chocolate and cherry character is broadened and accented by the wood, producing additional notes of marshmallow, candied pecan, and toffee, with a warming alcohol finish.

Mauj Fermenta Collaboration

Gose (pronounced goes-uh), a centuries-old German wheat beer, is enjoying a renaissance in American craft beer. Our gose features bright tartness from lactic acid producing bacteria, subtle fruitiness from coriander, and mild salinity from pink Himalayan sea salt. All that, combined with the low ABV, make it a wonderful complement to a hot summer’s day.

Halcyon Daze Kölsch

This sessionable summer ale was inspired by Halcyon SunDaze – lazy laid-back afternoons hosted once a month in the beer garden at our Ypsilanti microbrewery. The beer pours a light straw color, and leads with faint noble hops and notes of sweet grain. Evenly bittered with traditional German hops, while a sweet honey-like malt character provides the light body for the beer.

Old Tjikko

In celebration of Earth Day and Arbor Day, Old Tjikko is a pale ale brewed with spruce tips, juniper berries, lemon and orange peel. The resulting beer is distinctly fresh and bright, with notes of cedar and juniper rounded out with citrus. Light and refreshing like the spring season itself.

Woodsy IPA

An American IPA, deep gold in color, inundated with American hops.  Strong pine notes upfront with citrus and tropical fruit rounding out the aroma. Resinous American hops and unapologetic bitterness hit the palate, with a moderate dry finish and lingering bitterness.
